Inscription. An Anthology 2

On the website of the yearbook ‘Inscription. Periodical on Occasional and Applied Literature' (https://napis.edu.pl/2024-special-issue/) a new special issue is available – a continuation of the selection ‘Inscription. An Anthology 1'.

The English-language volume ‘Inscription. An Anthology 2’ contains six further articles from the rich output ofthe yearbook, which discuss:

  • the image of women in old Polish medical handbooks,
  • the policy of the Crown and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania vis-à-vis Moscow during the Smuta period,
  • wedding poetry of the Enlightenment,
  • 18thcentury poetry dedicated to balloon journeys,
  • problems of translating humour in the works of Charles Dickens,
  • significant omissions in the dialogues of heroes of Polish Positivist novels.

Coming soon is the 30th jubilee issue of ‘Napis’, which will focus on intriguing testimonies of the past and present cultural life and social communication, such as inscriptions, dedications, epigraphs, gravestone inscriptions, graffiti, memes and other such phenomena.
