Modern tools for promoting didactic and research activities of the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Polish Philology at the Faculty Of Humanities of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.

The integrated project "Modern tools for teaching and research activities of the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Polish Philology at the Faculty Of Humanities of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw" (No. PPI / NPZ / 2018/1/00065) assumed a series of activities based on the cooperation of Partners and synergy of their potentials. The idea of the project was to use modern digital marketing strategies and interdisciplinary tools to promote the scientific and didactic activities of IBL PAN, IFP WNH UKSW and - ultimately - other Polish and foreign Polish studies included in the framework of "Geopolonistics", created according to the idea of prof. Magdalena Popiel (president of the International Association of Polish Studies).

The project included: construction of a multilingual website of the Institute of Polish Philology at the Faculty Of Humanities of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, reconstruction of the "Polish Studies Newsletter", which involved the introduction of an interactive, multilingual, database-related map called "Geopolonistyka", situating the studies of Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Institute of Polish Philology at the Faculty Of Humanities of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw in the big picture of global Polish studies and giving a picture of Polish studies in the world. In a broader perspective, the multilingualism of the materials will allow information to reach new students interested in Polish literature and culture but not familiar with the Polish language.

Ultimately, "Geopolonistics" will serve to promote the activities of all institutions conducting Polish studies.

The promotional activities were complemented by a campaign in some of the most popular social media.

As part of the project, ten films with elements of animation, tutorial and storytelling were implemented as planned. The films have subtitles in three languages (selectable). Additionally, a catalog with educational offer in three language versions was prepared for each institution: Polish, English and Russian (a total of 6 catalogs). This content were also posted on websites and in the modernized "Polish Studies Newsletter" - a website dedicated to the broadly understood Polish studies at an international level, and also made available on social media.

The status of work on the "Geopolonistics" map was presented as part of the open seminar of the Centre for Digital Humanitiesseminar entitled "Map - a research tool" (Warsaw, May 20, 2019), during the meeting accompanying the conference "Mickiewicz and romantics towards East Slavic cultures" (Grodno, June 1, 2019) and during the closing  meeting of the project, which took place as part of the 10th International Week of Open Science at Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (October 24, 2019). "Geopolonistics" was also presented on May 16, 2019 in Warsaw during the poster session as part of the DARIAH Annual Event.

Architectural Literary Studies

Bertrand Westphal’s definition of geocriticism and its further developments were the starting point of the “Architectural Literary Studies” project. Research activities proposed in reference to it involved literary research analysis that could be used by other disciplines dealing with transformations of the urban space. It was important, firstly, to inquire about interdisciplinarity (and its limitations), understood as a method adapted by a researcher who uses concepts and theories from other disciplines, and, secondly, to try to develop a transdisciplinary research model based on collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. A 14-person research group analysed two Warsaw squares: Piłsudski Square and Parade Square (Plac Defilad).
