Stellenausschreibung im Studienbereich Slavistik des Departements für Sprachen und Literaturen der Philosophischen Fakultät der Universität Freiburg (CH)
Im Rahmen des vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds (SNF) geförderten Projekts „‚Społem!‘ / ‚Gemeinsam!‘: Die Wechselbeziehung zwischen Literatur und Sozialwissenschaften in Polen um 1900 und ihre Nachwirkungen“ suchen wir
zwei Doktorandinnen / Doktoranden.
Beginn: 1. Oktober 2018
Dauer: 48 Monate

Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts gab es im geteilten Polen einen intensiven Austausch zwischen Soziologie und Literatur. Soziologen äusserten sich zu Fragen der Literatur und Ästhetik – Schriftsteller griffen in ihrer Beschreibung der Gesellschaft auf soziologische Konzepte zurück. Beide Gruppen verband das gemeinschaftliche soziale Engagement. Unser Projekt möchte untersuchen, wie die Schriftsteller/innen für ihre literarischen Repräsentationen der Gesellschaft auf soziologische Modelle zurückgriffen – und wie Sozialwissenschaftler/innen in ihren Texten mit literarischen (narrativen, figuralen, stilistischen) Verfahren operierten, auf literarisch produziertes Wissen und auf literarisch geprägte und vermittelte kulturelle Praktiken rekurrierten.
Die gesuchten Personen sollen eine Dissertation im Rahmen dieses Forschungsprojekts verfassen. Sie werden sich an der Universität Freiburg (CH) als Doktorandinnen / Doktoranden einschreiben. Die Dissertation kann in deutscher, französischer, englischer oder polnischer Sprache verfasst werden.
Voraussetzungen:
- ein mit überdurchschnittlichem Erfolg abgeschlossenes MA-Studium in Slavistik, Polonistik und/oder Osteuropastudien, mit Schwerpunkt Literatur- bzw. Kulturwissenschaft
- sehr gute Polnisch-Kenntnisse, gute Kenntnisse des Deutschen und/oder Französischen
- Interesse an interdisziplinären Zusammenhängen im Grenzbereich zwischen Literaturwissenschaft, Sozialwissenschaft und Ideengeschichte

The Junior Linguist will also contribute to a number of other tasks to improve natural language processing. The tasks include: - Annotating and reviewing linguistic data - Labeling text for disambiguation, expansion, and text normalization - Annotating lexicon entries according to guidelines - Evaluating current system outputs - Deriving NLP data for new and ongoing projects - Be able to work independently with confidence and little oversight Minimum Requirements: - Native-level speaker of Polish and fluent in English - Experience in annotation work - Knowledge of semantics, syntax, morphology or lexicography - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Attention to details Desired Skills: - Degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics or Speech processing - Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts; learn in-house tools - Keen interest in technology and computer-literate - Fast and Accurate Keyboard Typing Skills - Editing, Grammar Check and Proofing Skills - Knowledge of phonetics, phonology would be a plus - Understanding of Natural Language Processing would be a plus Project duration: 6 months (with potential extension) This is not a permanent position but a full-time contract position.
