The American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) award for 2019 in the field of poetry for Bill Johnston for the translation of "Pan Tadeusz" by Adam Mickiewicz
Bill Johnston becomes the laureate of the National Translation Award in the Poetry category, awarded by the American Association of Translators of Literature (ALTA). He was awarded the prize for translating "Pan Tadeusz", an epic poem by Adam Mickiewicz this year. The book was published by Archipelago Books.

Olga Tokarczuk wins the Nobel Prize
Olga Tokarczuk won the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature. The committee praised her “narrative imagination that with encyclopaedic passion represents the crossing of boundaries as a form of life.” Austrian author Peter Handke was the winner for 2019.
