Powstały pod przewodnictwem IBL PAN projekt NEP4DISSENT - New Exploratory Phase in Research on East European Cultures of Dissent [Nowe odkrycia naukowe w badaniu wschodnio-europejskich kultur oporu] uzyskał finansowanie ze środków europejskich w ramach programu COST na stworzenie międzynarodowej sieci badawczej (Akcja COST nr CA16213). Sieć będzie rozwijać nowe podejścia i programy badawcze poświęcone kulturowemu wymiarowi dziedzictwa oporu i ruchów dysydenckich w krajach byłego bloku socjalistycznego 1945-1989.

Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and Institut des Textes & Manuscrits Modernes (ITEM) in Paris are pleased to invite you to participate in the international conference GENESIS  –  CRACOW 2019. GENESIS – CRACOW 2019 will be the second edition of a new series of conferences on genetic criticism, understood as the study of the creative process. The first edition, held on 7-9 June 2017 in Helsinki (Finland), was organized by the Finnish Literature Society and Institut des Textes & Manuscrits Modernes in Paris. The participants included scholars from Finland, France, Austria, Belgium, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Tunisia, Turkey, Wales and Canada.

Ośrodek Studiów Kulturowych i Literackich nad Komunizmem zaprasza na dwudniowe warsztaty polsko-czeskie poświęcone  marksizmowi w badaniach literackich w latach 1945-1955 w Polsce i Czechosłowacji: "Marxist Literary Research in Polish Peoples Republic and Czechoslovak Republic and their contexts. 1944-1956". This conference shall analyze the making of the legacy of East European dissent on the local, national and European levels. Interested primarily in the cultural and political aspects of this process, this conference aims to explore the following questions in particular: how have cultural products related to dissent and repression been employed to depict social relations and legitimize political regimes before and after 1989? How have political-ideological, ethnic or gender-related factors impacted what has been included in and excluded from the legacy of dissent? How have the biographies, agendas and roles of ‘post-dissidents’ shaped and been shaped by processes of remembrance and canonization in the decades since 1989? Conversely, how has ‘1989’ and the process of transition been viewed from the perspective of individuals and groups who did not associate any major expectations or fears with them? Last but not least, what is the relevance of communist-era dissent for Europe today?
