Kursy na Saint Xavier University w Chicago
Saint Xavier University w Chicago oferuje wykłady z kultury polskiej (Polish Culture) prowadzone w języku angielskim przez profesora Alexa Kurczabę oraz kursy literatury polskiej w tłumaczeniu angielskim (Masterpieces of Polish Literature, Polish Short Story) prowadzone przez profesora Alxa Kurczabę oraz dr Annę Gąsienicę Byrcyn.
Na SXU dostępne są również zajęcia z języka polskiego (Elementary Polish, Intermediate Polish, Polish Composition and Conversation) prowadzone przez dr Annę Gąsienicę Byrcyn. Latem 2018 SXU oferuje wieczorowy kurs kompozycji i konwersacji (Polish Composition and Conversation) od 29 maja do 19 lipca w godz. 18:30-19:45.
Profesor Alex Kurczaba wykładał język polski, kulturę i literaturę polską oraz polski film na Uniwersytecie Illinois w Chicago od połowy lat siedemdziesiątych. Pełnił funkcję dyrektora polskiego programu, dyrektora programu undergraduate oraz doradcy polsko-amerykańskiego klubu studenckiego (PASA). Obecnie wykłada na Uniwersytecie Saint Xavier (SXU) . Profesor Kurczaba jest znawcą twórczości Witolda Gombrowicza (Gombrowicz and Frisch. Aspects of the Literary Diary) i Josepha Conrada (Conrad and Poland). Jest również tłumaczem poezji Krzyszofa Kamila Baczyńskiego oraz jest autorem wielu artykułów, które ukazały się w Polish Review i The Sarmatian Review. Profesor Kurczaba otrzymał czterokrotnie nagrodę Silver Circle Award for Teaching Excellence w latach 1997, 2002, 2006 i 2010 na Uniwersytecie Illinois w Chicago. Prowadził również wykłady z literaratury polskiej w Newberry Library w Chicago.
Dr. Anna Gąsienica Byrcyn prowadzi zajęcia z języka polskiego na amerykańskich uczelniach od 1984 roku. Jej tłumaczenia poezji Haliny Poświatowskiej ukazały się w Modern Poetry in Translation, The Sarmatian Review, Lituanus, The Dirty Goat. Art Journal. Ostatnio Dr. Gąsienica Byrcyn przetłumaczyła wraz z dr. Stephanie Kraft powieść Elizy Orzeszkowej Marta, która zostanie wydana przez Ohio University Press, Polish and Polish American Series w lipcu 2018 roku. Ostatnio dr Gąsienicy Byrcyn opublikowała artykuł “Motyw światła i gliny w twórczości Joanny Pollakówny oraz Jacka Sempolińskiego” w książce Strony Joanny Pollakówny.

Jej artykuł “O poezji Marty Fox pędzlem Miró pisanej” został wydany w magazynie literackim Śląsk, 11 (264): 43-47, 2017. Fragment z Marty “A Passage from Eliza Orzeszkowa’s Novel Entitled Marta” ze wstępem i tłumaczeniem dr Anny Gąsienicyn Byrcyn oraz dr Stephanie Kraft został opublikowany w The Polish Review, vol. 62, No. 3:17-35, 2017, a jej artykuł na temat nauczania języka polskiego “Poetic Texts in Polish Heritage Classes” ukazał się w East/West: Journal of Ukrainian Studies, vol. 4, no. 1: 101-110, 2017.

"Geopolonistyka" - invitation to fill out a survey
We cordially invite you to participate in "Geopolonistyka", the purpose of which is to create an interactive, multilingual database of Polish studies in the world. Information in the form of text, photos, recordings, podcasts, for which the basic guide is an interactive map, aim to create synthetic knowledge about the current state and history of Polish studies. "Geopolonistyka" allows you to recognize the activities of people and institutions involved in conducting various forms of research and teaching Polish literature, culture and language outside Poland – currently and in the past. We will be honored if you would like to present your activities within "Geopolonistyka" and fill out the survey provided by us.

The international scientific conference 'Mickiewicz and romantics towards East Slavic cultures' became an opportunity to familiarize participants with the 'Geopolonistyka' project. The conference was attended by the editors of the "Polish Studies Newsletter" - Olga Zakolska and Piotr Bordzoł.
"Bibliography of Sources for Science and Society" - invitation to fill out a survey
In the years 2024-2027, the "Polish Studies Facing the Challenges of the Contemporary World" project team will conduct coordinated bibliographic work that aims to create an expert "Bibliography of Sources for Science and Society". Using the resources of the humanities (and Polish studies) has prompted us to bring the issues related to disability studies, narrative medicine, medical humanities, and architectural literary studies closer to society. The thematic collections that we collect to bring these issues closer are created in cooperation between bibliographers and subject experts who provide substantive supervision over the project results and are responsible for the substantive quality of bibliographic collections and collected data.

For many years now, we've been told that the world is rushing and change is inevitable. New phenomena and trends—technology, artificial intelligence, social media—go hand in hand with eternal questions about the meaning and direction of existence, the uncertainty of tomorrow, the inability to keep up with changes, the need to preserve the human element in a world of algorithms and procedures.
