THE SUN AND HER PLANETS. AROUND GEORGE SAND’S RECEPTION IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE International conference
Na konferencji obecnych było czterech gości specjalnych z zagranicy i jeden z Polski: prof. Isabelle Hoog Naginski (Boston University), prof. Francoise Genevray i prof. Olga Kafanova – autorki książek o rosyjskiej recepcji pisarki, prof. Corinne Fournier Kiss (Uniwersytet w Bern) oraz prof. Regina Bochenek-Franczakowa (UJ) – autorki wydanych po francusku książek o polskiej recepcji pisarki. Przewodniczącą komitetu organizacyjnego była dr Katarzyna Nadana-Sokołowska (IBL PAN). Partnerami zespołu Archiwum Kobiet IBL PAN w organizacji konferencji byli: KNOL PAN, Zakład Komparatystyki Instytutu Literatury Polskiej UW, Fundacja Archiwum Kobiet, IH PAN, Uniwersytet w Bern oraz Cultural and Tourist Association Women Writers Route.
Organizacja konferencji została dofinansowana przez Ministerstwo Edukacji i Nauki w ramach programu Doskonała nauka – Wsparcie konferencji naukowych (umowa nr DNK/SP/515209/2021, projekt pt.: „Słońce George Sand i jej planety: wokół środkowowschodnioeuropejskiej recepcji pisarki”). W ramach programu Doskonała nauka przyznano dofinansowanie w wysokości 43 100 zł (całkowity planowany budżet projektu 49 600 zł) Całkowita wartość zadania ostatecznie wyniosła 48 676,89 zł, w tym dofinansowanie MEiN – 42 140,53 zł.

On June 8, Prof. Tomasz Żukowski will examine Reymont’s texts and their adaptations in the context of the discussion about how national history relates to the history of social groups and the conflicts between them. The lecture is presented in cooperation with the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences and is part of the Tadeusz Solowij Lectures of the Kosciuszko Foundation.
Literature in Exile Between ‘Authorship’ and ‘Translation’: The Central and Eastern European Experience
This conference aims to examine the complex relationship between ‘authorship’ and ‘translation’ in the work of the 20th-century Central and Eastern European writers in exile who were also translators. In the context of the reassessment of ‘literariness’ in the latter half of the 20th century, the conference is particularly focused on the overlapping relationship between both these concepts, which are seen as interrelated, historically variable categories of literary creativity of exiled writers in redefining themselves against the nationalist narratives. The workshop will thus contribute to the discussion on cultural translation and post-national literature in general.
